Windows 7 RAID Issues
I've received a few Bluescreens today with my Phenom 940 w/ AMD 780G chipset and using the Windows installed RAID, AHCI drivers.
The AMD beta drivers for Windows 7 x64 do not appear to be live (for the motherboard aspects) so I installed with Vista x64 drivers just now from game.amd.com.
Now lets hope those BSOD's go away. Well on second thought...
Windows 7 Review
I've been using Windows 7 for the last 3 weeks. Overall - I love it. A refinement from the mistake that was Vista.
Features I like:
Features I like:
- Boot performance
- SSD improvements
- File transfer speed improvements
- WMP 12 is actually almost decent
- Paint is now usable for taking screenshots
- Snipping tool works great for taking screenshots
- Wordpad's interface is great
- Backup & Restore includes image backup functionality with network/DVD burn support
- Steady-state built-in as "PC Safeguard". Great way to prevent guests from muddying up your machine.
- Aero-snap
- Many components can be uninstalled
- Disk Cleanup is improved
- Taskbar works great on the side.
- File system is buggy. Resulting in file-in use errors that sometimes go away within minutes.
- Too many services set to automatic
- UAC still there
- File system is buggy, I hate file-in-use errors
- Took a while to get used to not having a quick-launch
- Sidebar is missing and stuck to the desktop, no way to keep it in a container and always visible
- The Windows filesystem is muddy. Too much crap in the Users folder.
